Our ethos

St. George’s C of E First School and Nursery caters for 225 pupils aged from 3 to 9 years of age.  We pride ourselves in offering a warm welcome to new children and their parents when they join the very special St. George’s ‘family’.  We are always ready to listen and go the extra mile – as a staff team we are committed and dedicated to giving the right support at the right time to help all our children thrive and flourish.

Our children speak a wide range of languages and come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and this is something we celebrate and are very proud of.  The rich and vibrant nature of our school community means that our children learn the attitudes, values and skills they need to be successful citizens in the diverse world we live in today.

St. George’s is part of a family of schools called Endeavour Schools Trust.  Our vision is that St. George’s is a community of happy, confident people, who are empowered and inspired to excel.  This vision strongly unites us with our Trust as is reflected in their motto “Inspired to excel”.   We are a Church of England school, yet we welcome children from all faiths as well as those with no faith background.  We are an inclusive school and there is a place for everyone at St. George’s.  Our ambition is for everyone in our school community to “Let your light shine” (from Matthew 5:16 in The Bible).

As well as placing a strong emphasis on children’s personal development, we also strive to make learning enjoyable and interesting, memorable and fun.   This helps inspire our children “to be better than ever before” (an aim we share with our Trust) and become lifelong learners.  Our school grounds are a haven and we have an on-site Forest School.  We often go on visits locally and further afield.  These provide our children with high quality learning experiences and create memories that they will cherish for the rest of  their lives.

Our children are at the heart of everything we do!
