History
At St George’s, our vision, “Wonderfully made, inspired to shape the world,” is deeply rooted in Psalm 139:14: "I will praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." This verse underlines our belief that each individual is unique, created in God's image with distinct talents and aspirations that we are committed to nurturing.
Our history curriculum reflects this vision by illuminating the past and inspiring a deeper understanding of the world around us. It is designed to build on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum in Key Stage 1 (KS1) and is structured chronologically in Key Stage 2 (KS2) to enhance our children's comprehension of historical timelines.
By incorporating key historical concepts such as pioneers, legacies, everyday life, and invasions, we enable our children to make connections across different eras. This approach supports a richer understanding of history, ensuring they know and remember more.
