Maths

At St. George's C of E First School and Nursery, our vision is deeply rooted in Psalm 139:14: "I will praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." This belief shapes our understanding that each child is unique, created in God's image, and possesses talents and aspirations that we nurture throughout their journey with us. We aim for our children to leave school with a strong sense of self-belief, identity, and community, empowered to make positive contributions to the wider world.

In line with this vision, our approach to teaching mathematics supports every child’s unique potential. We use the White Rose Maths scheme, which is built on the belief that "everyone can do Maths." This scheme emphasises mastery, ensuring that pupils develop confidence, resilience, and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. While White Rose forms the foundation of our maths curriculum, we also enrich learning with resources from other high-quality platforms, such as PlanPanion, NCETM, and NRICH, to provide a well-rounded and engaging experience.

Our aim is to develop confident mathematicians who can apply their skills both in school and in life, preparing them to shape their communities and the world with their unique talents.
